Black Diamond Adventures invests in the Making of Australians through unique OE programs that draw on outback and other experiences.

Black Diamond Adventures invest in people and in the making of Australians! We empower young people to believe in them-selves like no one else. Our programs will discreetly ask our students to consider what person they want to be and what qualities they want to be known for in the future.

The Making of Australians

A Black Diamond Adventures experience is different from many other outdoor education (OE) companies. Firstly, you will receive the obvious, and what I’d expect you would be offered from other providers, such as… a range of activities, experienced instructors, safety and risk management procedures, and of course, genuine care for all participants. Yes, we can take your students rock climbing, hiking, canoeing and camping, however, a Black Diamond experience is much more!

Although the above identifies integral components of a comprehensive OE experience, at Black Diamond we see that as more of our skeleton or scaffold. It is what I would like to think of as the basics that every OE provider delivers, and presumably to a very high standard.

Black Diamond Staff (Black Diamonds) use this scaffold as a vessel to take our students on a journey of personal and cultural development. To help them discover that they ‘have what it takes’ to achieve, to be confident, to be uncomfortable being uncomfortable, to work as a team, to be positive & resilient, to make new friends or whatever it is that may lie in front of them!

Through subtly interwoven Australian themes and bush skills, we subconsciously lay the foundation for ‘character reflection’.

Through subtly interwoven Australian themes and bush skills, we subconsciously lay the foundation for ‘character reflection’. When one thinks of the Australian character many words come to mind. For me, some include: grit, spirit, mateship, determined, resourceful, innovative, resilient, friendly, helpful, hard-working, courageous, positive, thoughtful, empathetic and caring. These are the values we encourage young Australians to aspire to, and be proud of.

Our history and past experiences (both good and bad) continues to shape who we are as Australians and as a nation to this very day. This, in one way or another, has enabled the evolution of what it means to be Australian. With seemingly less organic life opportunities for millennials to develop these qualities, it is necessary to provide them with experiences to ensure that we, ‘the elders’, pass on our traditions, values and life skills to the proceeding generation. It is our responsibility to nurture, inspire and guide the youth of today to be the very best version of themselves and ask them to be conscious of the character they are shaping.

In short, Black Diamonds invest in people! We empower young people to believe in them-selves like no one else. Our programs, like Duke of Edinburgh, will discreetly ask our students to consider what person they want to be and what qualities they want to be known for in the future. Students will begin to develop their character; It is the making of the next generation. It is The Making of Australians.
