Join our safe, fun, learn to surf camp.

Surfing is an Australian national pastime and a birthright of every Australian. Being the world’s largest island with the majority of our population living close to the coast – surfing – and swimming safely in the surf – a NSW surf camp is something every Australian should experience.

Whether it’s catching a wave, body surfing, stand up paddle boarding, sea kayaking or sit-on tops – our beautiful clean beaches and temperate climate provide ample opportunity for countless Australians to enjoy this form of physical activity. In recent decades, surfing and related activities are equally enjoyed by both genders, however, not everyone has the opportunity to become familiar with the ocean growing up. This is particularly the case for many new Australians.

LEARN TO SURF AT NSW SCHOOL CAMP

Our NSW learn to surf camp runs out of a number of locations on both the north and south coast of NSW. These camps cater for students who have never surfed before right through to the competent surfer. Although there is a primary focus on surfing, we also include other activities to challenge the students over the period of the camp.

SURF DEVELOPMENT AND COACHING

The NSW surf development camp can be included in the learn to surf camp. Students are often split into groups of varying abilities. Students who are in the more advanced group will have their lessons focused around development with specific coaching taking place. This is often done with video analysis.

SURFING AS PART OF THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD

Most of our Duke of Edinburgh (D of E) offerings centre around the Adventurous Journey element. The Physical Recreation element encourages young people to participate in sport and other physical recreation for the improvement of their fitness and health.

Surfing is one of the activities that can be taken as fulfilment of this section. Given our experience with D of E, we are able to connect students with qualified surf coaches who will provide them with programs to develop their confidence and prowess in surfing.

NSW SURF CULTURE AT CAMP

As part of our surf camps we like to introduce students to the Australian beach camp culture. This includes foraging for pippies and oysters, surf-casting for fish, snorkelling, BBQs and camp fires on the beach, football, volleyball and other beach games, camping on the coast, morning yoga and stretching routines, beach worming and fishing!

It’s all part of our Australian culture that sees us getting fit and active and healthy without realising it.
